BAZAAR FAQs

When and how can I drop off items to be donated?

All donated items need to be dropped off on Monday, 10/13/25, Tuesday 10/14/25, Wednesday, 10/15/25, or Thursday, 10/16/25, between the hours of 4pm and 8pm.

Donations can be dropped off at the Don Patti Memorial Gym (310 Tulip Ave Takoma Park).  Folks will be there to receive the items.  It’s especially useful if bags/boxes of items are labelled (“clothes” or “toys”), if possible.

What kinds of items can I donate?

Items in good condition are accepted (clothing, shoes, kitchen ware such as serving dishes, cooking utensils, jewelry, books, sporting goods, linens, housewares, office or art supplies).  Items with original price tags still attached are particularly useful.

What kinds of items are NOT accepted?

+Very large furniture items like 3-seat couches, beds, or exercise treadmills.  If you want to donate items like this, one way to do this is that you can leave it at your home, take a photo, and we can post it in the bazaar; if an interested party comes, they can make arrangements with you to see the item, and then the payment can be given to the church.

+Three-ring notebooks; out-of-date office equipment such as adding machines; old landline phones.

+ Computer monitors, custom draperies, hazardous materials, house paints, tires, etc.

+Stained, torn, tattered, or soiled clothing or linens; mildew or moldy items; household items that are dented, cracked, or missing parts.

Items that can’t be sold must be sorted, bagged, and delivered to other organizations or put in the trash; this work takes valuable time away from bazaar volunteers, so please don’t donate these.

Can I get a receipt for my donation for tax purposes?

Donation receipts are available from the front table worker at the entrance to the gym. If you don’t see one, ask a volunteer for one.

  Will there be food there?

Yes, there will be lunch food, a place to sit and eat it, and also a bake sale.
