Frequently Asked Questions
When and how can I drop off items for donation?
You can bring donations to the Don Patti Memorial Gym, 310 Tulip Ave., Takoma Park, October 12–16, from 4–8 p.m. Volunteers will be there to receive your donations. If possible, please label bags and boxes with their contents (for example, “clothes” or “toys”). This helps us sort everything more quickly.
Please bring all donated items Monday, October 13 through Thursday, October 16, between 4–8 p.m. Volunteers will be on hand to receive your donations.
What Kind of Items Can I Donate?
We welcome clean, gently used items in good condition, including clothing and shoes, kitchenware, jewelry, books, sporting goods, linens, housewares, office and art supplies, and more. We especially appreciate items with original price tags still attached!
What kinds of items will NOT be accepted?
Due to limited space, we can't accept very large furniture or equipment, such as three-seat sofas, beds, or exercise treadmills.
If you have one of these items to donate, we may still be able to help! Take a photo of the item and send it to us. We can include it in our bazaar listings, and interested buyers can arrange to see the item at your home. If it sells, the payment can be made directly to the church.
Three-ring notebooks; out-of-date office equipment; old landline phones.
Computer monitors, custom draperies, hazardous materials, house paints, tires, etc.
Stained, torn, tattered, or soiled clothing or linens; mildewed or moldy items; household items that are dented, cracked, or missing parts.
—————
Items that are damaged, broken, incomplete, or otherwise unlikely to sell create additional work for our volunteers. Unsold items must be sorted, bagged, and either delivered to other organizations or disposed of.
Please help us make the most of our volunteers’ time by donating only items that are clean, complete, and in good, sellable condition. Thank you!
Can I Get a Receipt for My Donation?
Donation receipts are available at the front table at the gym entrance. Ask a volunteer—we’ll be happy to help!
Will There Be Refreshments Available?
Absolutely! Grab some lunch, take a break, and enjoy a place to sit and eat. We’ll also have a bake sale with plenty of sweet treats to take home.
