Poor People’s Campaign, June 18

Crowd at the recent Poor People’s and Low Wage Workers Campaign in Washington, DC

On June 18th the Poor People’s and Low Wage Workers Campaign — led by the Reverend William Barber — rallied in Washington and representatives of TPPC joined the call for justice.

Barber and other charismatic speakers from states across the union spoke up for the 144 million people living in our wealthy nation who are crushed by poverty.

In this video clip filmed by Mary Pat Brennan, Pastor Mark Harper captures the joy and the urgency of the day’s demonstration — lest we deny Jesus’ will for his beloved community.

The campaign has seven goals for the coming months. They include a White House poverty summit, a voter registration drive, a minimum wage initiative, and peaceful visits to our Members of Congress. For more visit: poorpeoplescampaign.org.
