Our church will participate in three events related to our local environment.

Our annual Church Yard Work Day will be held on April 23rd from 9 AM to Noon along with Scout Troop 33. Bring your trowel and clippers and help us beautify our church grounds.

The Sacred Grounds: Caring for Creation project that is working with TPPC and other faith-based communities is holding a virtual workshop on "Using Native Plants to Care for Earth at Home" at 7:30 pm on Thursday, May 5.

You will learn from experts about how you can create wildlife habitats and protect our local streams by planting native plants. You'll also learn how to create and design a rain garden that is eligible for municipal funding worth hundreds or thousands of dollars.

You can register at this link.

There will also be a Native Plant Give-Away as part of TPPC's participation in the Caring for Creation Sligo Creek Project on May 15th at Takoma Park Presbyterian Church after worship.

You can also take a pledge to plant native plants by responding to the form on the Sacred Grounds website. Everyone that pledges will receive a starter kit of native plants to add to their yard.

The May 8 event, called "Planting Hope", will also include information on using native plants and rain gardens to support wildlife and people.

For examples of native plants from TPPC’s own native plant garden, access this blog post with a description of our native garden.
