TPPC offers a number of activities during the season of Lent, leading up to Holy Week.

After Ash Wednesday, there will be a series of weekly Lent Devotional Services led by Pastor Mark Harper and held in the Sanctuary, again starting at 7 PM. The series will run from March 1st to April 5th. This series will also be available over Zoom.

The bulletin for the March 29th service is available on this website.

Links to the weekly services are available below:

Also, the 2023 Lenten Creation Care Calendar is now available from the Interfaith Partners of the Chesapeake.

On Sunday, March 19th, members of our Critical History Project will lead worship with a focus on the practice of lamentation.

A special choral service by the TPPC Choir and special guest musicians is scheduled for Sunday, March 26th. For more information on this special event, access this blog post.

The Worship Ministry is providing an opportunity for you to beautify the Sanctuary for Easter by purchasing an Easter Lily. For more information access the Easter Lillies page.

On Holy Week, there will be several opportunities for worship:

  • On Palm Sunday (April 2nd) at 11 AM, weather permitting, the members of the congregation are invited to gather on the church lawn to process into the sanctuary with palms, following the choir and the children.

  • On Maundy Thursday (April 6th) at 7 PM, there will be a tenabrae (“darkness”) service with communion in the sanctuary. This service will also be available over Zoom.

  • On Good Friday (April 7th) at noon, there will be a simple service in the Sanctuary. This service will also be available over Zoom.

  • Our Easter Sunday celebration will be held on April 9th at 11 AM.

During Holy Week, we will collect the One Great Hour of Sharing special offering. The three programs supported by One Great Hour of Sharing - Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the Presbyterian Hunger Program, and Self-Development of People - all work in different ways to serve individuals and communities in need. For more information, access the One Great Hour of Sharing website.

More details on these and other activities will be announced as they become available.
