Save the Dates for Advent and Christmas Events at TPPC

Every year at TPPC, special events help prepare us for the joy of Christmas. Here are a few of the events we’re planning.

November 26

After the service, we’ll decorate the sanctuary for Advent and Christmas. Everyone is invited and encouraged to help decorate.

December 2

Our church will host the Alternative Gift Market on Saturday, December 2nd from Noon to 4 pm. For more information, access the Alternate Gifts of Greater Washington website.

December 3 - Advent Choral service

The main feature for the Advent service is the Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi.

It will be accompanied by strings, oboe, trumpet and organ. The Gloria, although known widely for less than one hundred years, has become the second most loved Christmas choral work across the Christian world and second only to Handel’s Messiah. Curiously enough, both works come from the Baroque period of music.

The choir will be supplemented by some of Dr. James Bingham’s former choral students, as are the required female soloists, and the orchestra will be lead by Dr. Preston Hawes of Washington Adventist University.

December 10

Our December communion service will be held on December 10th.

Poinsettias will be available for people to order in honor or memory of someone. Believe it or not, they are still $20 each!  (But if anyone wishes to write a check for more than $20, the remainder will go into the Organ Fund.)

The poinsettias will be in the sanctuary for both services on Christmas Eve. There is a link on the website that people can use to order poinsettias and there is also a form in the bulletin.

You need to order by December 17.

December 17

Prepare Ye for the  PAGEANT!  We will be rehearsing after the Time with Children on December 3 and 10, and we will perform on December 17 at 10 am.

December 17

Christmas Carolers should gather at Victory Towers at 2:30 pm on Sunday, December 17.

Christmas Eve Service, December 24

Our Family Christmas Eve service will be held on Sunday, December 24 at 5 PM.

When more information is available, we’ll add these events to the list.
